Nice work.

If the first one’s a hood scoop, is the second one a hood scoop scoop?

honestly i don’t know why anyone would buy a new tundra right now... the ford, chevy, nissan, and ram are all much newer and offer more for similar pricing and they also get newer + more efficient engines and transmissions

(psshhh its not an actual hood scoop)

IT does have some presence though. And no freakin heated seats.

Yeah, my dads tundra was awesome in 2014 but that was 6 years ago that he bought it . Definitely need a new one asap.

Danget. If I thought it was terrible that would be a solid one. I loved it though .

Yeah, gotta have that with leather. I didn’t pay the extra for them in my Tacoma, but I got cloth seats, too. My truck has a ton of technology built in, but because of the way I spec-ed it, it doesn’t have auto-climate control (part of a package that would’ve cost a couple grand more) , a smart key (doesn’t come with the manual ) , etc.

What’s crazy is none of the Tundras or Sequoias have a remote key.

The no heated seats thing gets to me.  Even at my age, after a rough day, heated seats are cherished.  The lack of other tech is also mystifying.  I might have to go Murkan if I was looking for a big truck.

If you get the Platinum you get all the goods, it’s just because the TRD Pro is SR5 based that they wont give you anything.

Great review. The tundra is the only “modern” full size I’ve driven, as my FIL let’s me borrow his. What I don’t like is the steering - it feels way too light for a truck and takes a lot of getting used to.

Still, kind of weird.  Are others as limited by a trim line?  I mean, it has leather.

Definitely agree. It will be very reliable though.

Can you order heated seats in lower trims of other trucks? You should be able to get a cold weather package without having to buy allllllllllllllll l the trimmings.

The SR5 doesn’t have leather seats available which is why I am assuming it doesn’t have it in the TRD Pro. You can get heated seats starting with the limited/middle trim I believe which does have leather .

It feels old compared to Ford, GM, RAM and Nissan, which is because it is. It feels more “American” actually, since it uses the same recipe from about 8 years ago.

Honestly so are pretty much all modern trucks in terms of reliability.

Not enough people buy them to warrant more often redesigns .  Also helps with resale when you have lower production and a trusted simple design.

I like them. Durable and reliable. My father in law’s 2007 has needed a starter during its lifetime. My 2012 felt solid, although it did have pretty pronounced bed bounce on concrete highways over the expansion joints. It was not isolated well.

In fact, I’m hoping to buy my father in law’s as they’ve been debating getting a new truck..

This is just Toyota calling to their base buyers. The buyers who don’t care that any product may be better or may offer a better ROI. All they care about is that the Toyota symbol is on the front and that it will likely last them as long as they want to keep it.

I haven’t seen that, we handle a large fleet of vehicles and seen plenty of Ecoboost, especially the 2.7L and 3.5L with well over 150 - 200K mileage without any major issues. Some carbon deposits after 100K, but not anywhere near as bad as VW direct injection systems.

There doesn’t seem to be any major trends of Ecoboost reliability issues, but if you can quote something (other than some guys on forum) that shows lower than average reliability I would be interested in seeing it.

Probably something like the Tacoma redesign , I suspect it will evolutionary instead of revolutionary, but still really good.

Maybe its poor maintenance but early ‘10 Taurus SHOs seem to be having some issues. Maybe the F150 is built completely  different .
